Front Cover Improvements

For improving my front cover i decided to take some more pictures of a different model and made a similar style magazine to my last one. However I improved this by using the contrast of certain colours and using precise layout like similar magazines to my genre.

From my preliminary task, I had to construct a magazine front cover, contents page and a double page spread, using the conventions of similar magazines.  I believe I have followed these conventions  by including gutters for my contents page and double page spread in order to make it look tidy and professional. I have also researched similar magazines in order to find out how these three things are presented and put together.

For my front cover I did a mock up front cover which is shown on my blog. This gave me an idea of where everything has to go. I knew that I had to include my feature artist on the front cover onto the contents and double page spread, because he is the main focus in the magazine.

I also researched what information is contained in a magazine contents page. 

For my contents page I included real pictures I have taken from concerts and music festivals like: Nicki Minaj, wireless festival and Capital. I have included these pictures because it shows the genre of my magazine and follows music magazine conventions.  At first, I  wasn’t sure where to place the images as they were quite blurry. However, I found a way around this by making the images smaller and creating a column for the images.  This made the contents page look neat and tidy. 

Layout

The layout of my magazine is mainly conventional. This is highlighted on the double page spread which displays an interview in columns  next to the feature artist. As well as this, my front cover follows layout conventions by having the masthead at the top of the page, a list of subheadings down the right-hand side and a main headline across the bottom page.

Contents Page

My contents page contains elements that follow the codes and conventions of existing music magazines. For example it includes information from the front cover and photos contained inside the magazine. In comparison to the contents pages I analysed at the start, the layout of my contents is similar to the music magazine Billboard, therefore making it conventional
